Woman Walking in Middle of Road Arrested

On Thursday, March 14th, at about 9:00 pm, Lt. Scott Crater found Onika Johnson, 34, of Picataway, NJ, walking north bound on County Route 523; Johnson was walking in the middle of the road on the double yellow lines, causing a traffic hazard.

The officer stopped Johnson and escorted her to the side of the road where she told him she was walking in the middle of the road so that all of the drivers on the roadway could see her; there was a sidewalk available next to the roadway where she was stopped by the officer.

A check revealed Johnson was wanted on a traffic warrant out of Scotch Plains, NJ, for $500.00. Johnson was arrested and brought to Police HQ where she eventually posted bail. Johnson was issued a traffic summons for causing a traffic hazard, and released.
