Duo Arrested for walking out of Wal-Mart with 50" HD-TV.
William Mason, a 40 year old male and Paul Mason, a 25 year old male, both from Raritan Boro, were arrested on Wednesday March 20, 2013 at about 3:45 in the afternoon for walking out of Wal-Mart with a 50" Vizio Television Set without paying. The two men were seen fleeing east on Rt. 22, in a beige Toyota Corolla. A BOLO was broadcasted providing the vehicle description and licence plate. An alert officer from Branchburg Twp. Police, Cpl. Joseph Bobrowski, observed the vehicle and stopped them on Rt. 22 near Milltown Rd. Cpl. Bobrowski clearly observed the television in the back seat of the car. He radioed his findings and Ptl. Hartmann of the Readington Twp. Police responded, recovering the television and arrested the two men.
The duo were also observed on Wal-Mart's surveillance video attempting to shoplift an identical television on March 3rd. 2013 by cutting the security spyder wrap off of the box.
William Mason was charged with driving while suspended, failure to produce documents and shoplifting. An arrest warrant for failing to appear in Newark Municipal Court on a Criminal Trespassing charge was also discovered for his arrest. He was lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of 10,000 dollars bail.
Paul Mason was also charged with shoplifting, and two arrest warrants for Shoplifting out of Manville Boro Municipal Court, and Obstruction out of Raritan Boro Municipal Court. He was lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of 6,391 dollars bail.
