Burglary Arrest

On Friday May 8, 2015 at approximately 2:58 PM, a resident of Stanton Rd. called Readington Police to report a burglary that just occurred. The victim had interrupted the burglary confronting the suspect as he was leaving the residence. The victim confronted the burglar who loaded his vehicle with stolen items and fled the scene. Readington Twp. Police patrols quickly broadcast the description of the suspect's vehicle and persona appearance over the police radio. Officers from Clinton Twp. Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle on Rt. 31 North across from North Hunterdon High school at approximately 3:20 PM. The victim positively identified the driver of the stopped vehicle, Jorge Velez, age 45 of 745 East 3rd Street, Plainfield, NJ as the man who committed the burglary and theft. Velez was placed under arrest and stolen items were recovered from his vehicle. Velez was lodged at the Hunterdon County Jail on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief. His bail was set at $50,000.00 full by Hon. Bradford M. Bury, Judge of the Superior Court
