On June 11, 2015, at approximately 0821 hours, Ptl. Mazellan stopped a vehicle on Route 523 prior to Route 78 for a headlight violation. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed under 50 grams of marijuana. One of the passengers, a Sheanan Torres of Allentown, PA was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and the other passenger, Nicole Peder of Perth Amboy was arrested for two active warrants. After processing Torres was released from police custody pending a future court appearance and Peder was released to Sayreville Police in default of her failure to post her cash bail.
