On Monday, November 2, 2015, at approximately 1745 hours, Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a motor vehicle on Rt. 523 and Edgewood Rd. for Careless Driving. The vehicle was operated by Patrick Romano. During the motor vehicle stop the officer had his canine partner Polis conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle and the canine gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle yielded two folds of heroin, and 22 Xanax pills. Romano was arrested and charged with the following: Carless Driving, Operating a motor vehicle CDS, possession of Xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia, DWI and being under the influence of CDS. Romano was released to an adult pending a future court appearance.
