Marijuana and Fireworks arrest
On Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at approximately 1538 hours, Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a motor vehicle on Rt. 22 East near Juniper Dr. for the vehicle brake lamp not working. The vehicle was operated by Daniel Ford (22) of Blauvet, NY and occupied by Thomas Berganza (26) of Nyack, NY. During the motor vehicle investigation the officer had his canine partner Polis conduct a sniff of the vehicle for narcotics. Canine Polis gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle by the officer revealed under fifty grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and several bags of fireworks. Both individuals were taken into custody by the officer. Ford was charged with possession of fireworks, failure to maintain lamps, failure to provide registration, and operating a motor vehicle in possession of CDS. Berganza was charged with possession of under fifty grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Later while processing, the officer also located a $1000 in traffic warrants for Berganza. Berganza posted the bail and both individuals were released from police custody pending a future court appearance.
