On Monday August 13, 2018 at approximately 0300 hours, Ptl. Mazellan arrested Heather Bear (36) out of Hampton, NJ during a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 22. Ptl. Mazellan observed several signs that Bear was someone who used Heroin and asked for consent to search her vehicle. Bear refused a consent search and K9 Jax from the Flemington Boro Police Department sniffed the exterior of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics. Ptl. Mazellan searched the interior of the vehicle and located 13 bags of heroin, one small bag of crack, a crack pipe, 6 hypodermic needles, three schedule IV prescription pills without a valid prescription and several pieces of drug paraphernalia used to inject heroin. Bear was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia and was lodged at the Hunterdon County Jail.
