Good Samaritan recognized by Readington Police
On February 4th 2013 The Readington Township Police Department recognized Timothy Sanderson for an act of compassion and bravery. Chief Donaruma presented Sanderson with a letter of recognition and a Readington Township Police Department Challenge Coin.
On Tuesday November 27, 2012 at approximately 11:30am, Timothy Sanderson came upon a motor vehicle crash. The vehicle had rolled over, and trapped the driver and her 1 year old son inside. At the time of the accident weather consisted of a whiteout snowstorm, which caused treacherous road conditions and poor visibility. The location of the crash was at the bottom of a hill and around a sharp curve. Despite the whiteout conditions and the precarious location of the vehicle, Sanderson stopped at the scene and immediately went to render aid to the trapped occupants. Sanderson had to crawl through broken glass and accident debris to get to the occupants. Single-handedly he was able to remove both of the occupants from their overturned vehicle and get them into the safety of his vehicle.
While police were investigation the crash, several other vehicles lost control coming down the hill and around the curve, any one of them could have easily crashed into the overturned vehicle furthering injuring the trapped occupants or. Timothy Sanderson placed himself in danger to come to the aid of complete strangers.
