Police Assist Elderly Woman

On Wednesday, March 13th, at about 8:15 pm, police were dispatched to a Whitehouse Station home when neighbors heard a woman screaming for help. Lt. Scott Crater and Cpl. Chris Heycock arrived and found an elderly woman in her 80's standing outside of her home holding a hatchet and scissors and screaming "help".

The woman told the officers several men had broken into her home and were still inside; the officers checked inside and found the home empty with all exterior doors locked. The officers escorted the woman back inside and after talking to her believed that she was confused and/or suffering from dementia.

The officers found the home in disrepair and unheated. Officers contacted relatives of the woman who refused to provide any assistance to the woman. Since the woman said she had not eaten that day the officers helped her prepare food and then contacted the Whitehouse Rescue Squad to transport the woman to a local hospital for an evaluation. The officers followed up with the Hunterdon County Division of Social Services for future follow-up and assistance.
