MEDIA RELEASE JULY 3, 2013 FIGHT IN READINGTON RESULTS IN ARREST
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III and Readington Township Police Chief Sebastian Donaruma announced that on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at approximately 3:20AM, Readington Township Police responded to a reported assault at a residence on Route 22 in Whitehouse Station.
An investigation by the Readington Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office determined that two roommates had an altercation and a screw driver was used to injure a 23 year old male at the residence.
Detectives were able to identify the assailant as Fernando Gonzalez-Lopez, age 23. He was tracked to a nearby motel and placed under arrest.
Gonzalez-Lopez was charged with aggravated assault, possession of
a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a
weapon. The Honorable Hany Mawla, J.S.C. set bail on the
defendant at $75,000 and he was lodged at the Hunterdon County
Jail awaiting a first court appearance.
Agencies assisting the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office and
the Readington Township Police in tracking Gonzalez-Lopez include
the New Jersey State Police, Clinton Township Police, Branchburg
Township Police, and Tewksbury Township Police.
