Motor Vehicle Stops Leads to 3 DUI Arrests

On December 16, 2013 at approximately 0145 hours, Ptl. Patrick Brown stopped a vehicle for swerving on Rt. 22 East and Rt. 523. The vehicle was operated by Carmen Reategui (34) of Whitehouse Sta. NJ. During the investigation the officer detected to odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The officer then had Reategui preform a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST's), which Reategui failed. Reategui was arrested for DWI and transported to HQ for processing. Reategui was processed and charged with DWI, failure to maintain lane, and failure to provide vehicle insurance card, she called Nina Petracca (23) ofDunellen,NJfor a ride.

Once Petracca arrived to HQ, Ptl. Peter Serrone was explaining the potential liability form to her. During the officer's interaction with Petracca, she indicated that she drove to headquarters. The officer also noticed that Petracca was displaying signs of intoxication. Petracca was instructed to preform field sobriety tests in the lobby of HQ, which she failed. Petracca was arrested for DWI and a later search of purse revealed seven Vicodin in an unlabeled container. Petracca was charged with DWI, possession of Vicodin, and operating a motor vehicle in possession of CDS.

Later both of the above defendants called Ryan Hogan (33) of Whitehouse Sta., NJ for a ride. Once Hogan arrived to HQ, Sgt. Ferreiro asked him how he arrived to HQ, which he stated that he drove. As the officer explained the potential liability form to Hogan, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from that Hogan's person. The officer also noticed that Hogan was displaying signs of intoxication. The officer had Hogan perform SFST's, which he failed. Hogan was arrested and charged with DWI.

The three above defendants were later released to a sober adult. The three above defendants are set to appear in court in January 2014.
