Becareful of Solicitors
On March 13th, 2014 at 12:35 PM a township resident of Lazy Brook Rd contacted police reporting that there was a suspicious male in his driveway soliciting for paving work. The resident also reported that he believed the male was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Ptl. Griffiths and Sgt DeWire arrived on scene and determined that the man, later identified as Dale Petty Jr, 37, of Walnutport, PA, did not have a permit to solicit within Readington Twp. Ptl. Griffiths conducted sobriety tests and subsequently arrested Petty for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Petty was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) for which he did not have a prescription. Petty was charged with DUI, possession of CDS, soliciting without a permit and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. He was released to a friend.
