Sleeping & Drinking
On Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at about 2:20 p.m., Readington Township Police were dispatched to the Whitehouse Station Post Office for a report of a man sleeping in his vehicle blocking the exit of the Post Office.
Patrol arrived and made contact with the driver, Richard Cranmer, age 67 of Doylestown, PA, who was asleep behind the wheel. After detecting the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Cranmer's breath, Police had Cranmer perform a series of standardized field sobriety tests. Cranmer displayed signs of intoxication so he was placed under arrest. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, refusal to submit breath samples and open container of alcohol inside a motor vehicle. Patrolmen Brown was the investigating officer.
