On Friday, May 23, 2014 at approximately 12:05am, Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a motor vehicle on Rt. 22 East andCounty Line Rd.for driving without any headlamps on. The vehicle was operated by Kathy Michalak (49) ofChatham,NJ. During the motor vehicle investigation, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating out from inside the vehicle. The officer also noticed that Michalak was displaying signs of intoxication. After Michalak performed standardized field sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest for DWI. Michalak was charged with the following; failure to use headlights when required, careless driving, DWI, and refusal to submit to breath testing. Michalak was released from police custody to a sober adult, pending a future court appearance.
