On Tuesday, June 18, 2014 at approximately 0122 hours, Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a vehicle for speeding at the intersection of Rt. 523 and Rt. 78 East. The vehicle was occupied by Virendra Mharat (23) of Lenoir, NC. During the motor vehicle stop the officer conducted a search of the vehicle and located a mason jar containing Marijuana. Mharat took ownership for the Marijuana located. Mharat was arrested and charged accordingly. Mharat was released from police custody pending a future court appearance.
