On September 12, 2014, at 10:30pm, Sgt. Dewire observed a lawn tractor being driven down the shoulder of Route 22 west near County Line Road. The officer stopped the vehicle and questioned the operator, Robert Ward age 32 of Readington. After a brief conversation, Sgt. Dewire observed signs of impairment. Sobriety tests were given and Mr. Ward was arrested for driving under the influence. He was issued summones for DUI and driving while suspended. Ward was released to a friend after he was processed. It was later learned that Ward was using the lawn tractor as a mode of transportation and was returning home after drinking at a local bar.
