READINGTON TOWNSHIP HOUSE FIRE UNDER INVESTGATION, DOES NOT APPEAR SUSPICIOUS

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Readington Township Police Chief Sebastian Donaruma announced that fire investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office and the Readington Township Police Department were investigating a condominium fire at 4 Owl Court in the Three Bridges section of the township on Monday, September 22nd. The fire was reported at approximately 4:46PM.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, "The Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Arson Investigation Unit and the Hunterdon County Arson Task Force began investigating the fire on Monday afternoon. Multiple condo units in the structure sustained damaged as the fire spread. The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that the fire was not suspicious; however the cause of the fire remains officially undetermined at this time. The investigation is ongoing."

Prosecutor Kearns added, "I commend the quick response of the volunteer firefighters from Hunterdon and Somerset counties that fought this dangerous fire. We are very fortunate to have such a fine volunteer system of dedicated firefighters. Without their swift response, the damage and loss could have been far worse."

The Hunterdon County Arson Task Force is comprised of specially trained police officers, volunteer firefighters, as well as HCPO Detectives that work in conjunction with the State Police Arson/Bomb Squad and the NJ Fire Marshal K-9 Unit to investigate major fires in the county.

The American Red Cross assisted the occupants of the condominium building that were displaced by the fire.
