MAN FOUND IN GAS STATION LOT LIED TO POLICE, ARRESTED

On February 7, 2015, at approximately 11:38 pm, Lt. Scott Crater, while on patrol, noticed a vehicle parked next to the Whitehouse Exxon building; the business was closed and unlit at that time. When the officer checked the vehicle a white male quickly exited the car (a Mazda Protege) and appeared nervous to the officer; the man told the officer he was waiting for a ride because he was having car trouble. The man did not have any identification but provided the officer with a name and date of birth.

The officer checked the vehicle's registration and discovered the car had ficticious license plates attatched to it and that the car was unregistered. During an on-scene investigation the officer discovered the man had lied to him about his identity and was actually Jagdiel Velazquez, 22 years old from New Britain, Conneticut.

Valazquez was arrested and charged with Obstructing the Administration of Law, Driving While Suspended, Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, and Ficticious License Plates. Velazquez was later released on his own recognizance with a pending court date, his vehicle was towed from the scene.
