On Thursday, January 7, 2015, at approximately 1439 hours, Ptl. Mazellan stopped a Honda Accord on Rt. 523 for a burnt out rear taillight. While talking to the driver of the vehicle the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating out of the interior of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted uncovering an amount of marijuana under 50 grams as well as drug paraphernalia. A passenger's in the vehicle, Sam Digiovanni age 18, took responsibility of the marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Digiovanni was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Digiovanni was released from police custody pending a future court date.
