Crash Leads to Weapon Arrest
On Saturday, January 30, 2016, at approximately 0734 hours the Readington Township Police Department was dispatched to the area of Main St. near Whitehouse Ave for a reported motor vehicle crash. Hunterdon County Communications gave an update to patrol advising a male from the crash was attempting to attack the other driver with a weapon. Upon arrival both parties were separated. The driver identified as Stephen Reif, 55, of Millington, NJ crashed into the victims rear bumper as he was breaking. After the crash, the victim exited his vehicle and Reif exited his with a wooden police style baton and reportedly shouted threatening words. Reif eventually dropped the baton and chased the victim around the crash scene until the police arrived . Reif was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and harassment. Reif was later released from police custody with complaint summons. Ptl.
