Heroin Arrest
On Saturday, February 13, 2016, at approximately 2220 hours, Ptl. Jack Mazellan and Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a motor vehicle on Rt. 22 near Green Gate Rd. for not having it headlights on. The vehicle was operated by Alexis Herrera (age 31) of New York. During the motor vehicle stop the officers detected the odor of Marijuana emanating out from the vehicle. Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro had his canine partner Polis conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Polis gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed 400 bags of heroin, Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Alexis was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute Heroin and possession of Marijuana laced with PCP. Alexis was lodged at the Hunterdon County Jail waiting a future court appearance.
