Hindering Arrest

On Friday, April 1, 2016, at approximately 1055 hours, Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a vehicle on Rt. 523 near Halls Mill Rd. for failure to signal turn. The vehicle was driven by Tiyanah Spencer, age 30 of Newark, NJ. During the motor vehicle investigation, Tiyanah Spencer provided false information to the officer. The officer then discovered Spencer's true identity as well as several outstanding warrants for her arrest. Later during the investigation, the officer had his canine partner Polis conduct a sniff of the vehicle for narcotics. A search of the vehicle by the officer revealed under fifty grams of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Spencer was arrested and charged with the following: hindering apprehension, possession of under fifty grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Spencer was also issued the following summonses: failure to signal turn, driving while suspended, failure to exhibit driver's license, failure to exhibit insurance card and operating a motor vehicle in possession of CDS. Spencer was released from police custody pending a future court appearance
