DRUNK DRIVING ARREST

On Tuesday, May 03, 2016 at approximately 0939 hours, Sgt. Carlos Ferreiro stopped a motor vehicle on Rt. 22 East and the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center. The vehicle was operated by Kanadi Deshmukh (35) of Somerville, NJ. The officer observed Deshmukh change lanes without using her signal and also travel through a red light as she made a left turn to travel east on Rt. 22. During, the motor vehicle stop the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating out from inside the vehicle. The officer had Deshmukh had perform a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which she failed. Deshmukh was placed under arrest for DWI. A search of the vehicle revealed an open container of alcohol in the motor vehicle. Deshmukh was charged with the following: DWI, careless driving, unsafe lane change, failure to maintain lamps, open container of alcohol in the vehicle, consumption of alcoholic with in a vehicle and failure to observe traffic signal. Deshmukh was released to a sober adult and is pending a future court appearance.
