On Wednesday, May 04, 2016 at approximately 1706 hours, Readington Township Police officers responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Rt. 22 West and School Rd. While investigating the accident Ptl. Woolverton detected the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the breath of one of the involved drivers, John Bay Jr., of Raritan, New Jersey. Bay was instructed to perform standard field sobriety tests which determined he was impaired. Bay was placed under arrest for DWI. Bay was charged with the following: Driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and failure to yield to an oncoming vehicle. Bay was released to a sober adult and is pending a future court appearance.
