On Thursday July 14^th, 2016 at approximately 0825 hours the Readington Township Police were dispatched to the area of Route 22 East and Van Horne Dr for a motor vehicle crash. The striking vehicle, a Ford Explorer, had swerved into the eastbound shoulder. Upon re-entering the highway, the Explorer struck five (5) other vehicles, which were stopped for a red traffic signal. The operator of the Explorer, Steven Campagna of Toms River, acknowledged that he had fallen asleep while driving. Campagna, along with several other drivers involved in the crash were transported to Hunterdon Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
