Marijuana Arrest - Hindering
On Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 0845 hours, Patrolman Brown arrested Jahnet A. Furet, 21 from Somerville, NJ and Ariel J. Aponte, 20, from South Bound Brook, NJ. The pair, traveling together in seperate cars, were spotted by the officer pulling into a gas station off State Route 22 and both cars had equipment violations. While speaking to Furet, the officer detected the odor of marijuana inside her car. A search of the car yielded marijuana in a glass jar and two burnt marijuana cigarettes. After being processed at headquarters, Furet was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintenence of lamps, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
Aponte first refused to provide the officer with her drivers license and then provided a false name and date of birth. During her arrest, a marijuana cigarette was located in her purse. After being processed at headquarters, Aponte was charged with hindering apprehension, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructed tags, driving while suspended, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
