CT MAN CHARGED IN FATAL ACCIDENT IN READINGTON TWP

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, and Readington Township Police Chief Joseph Greco announced the investigation of a fatal motor vehicle accident on State Highway 202 northbound in Readington Township that occurred on December 26, 2017.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, "At approximately 3:58 pm, the Readington Township Police Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 202 northbound at the intersection of Summer Road. Preliminary investigation revealed a Chevy pickup truck struck the rear of a Volkswagen GTI on State Highway 202. A third vehicle was struck by the Volkswagen but received minimal damage and the occupants were uninjured. The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Wilson A. Subana, age 57, of South Bound Brook, New Jersey, was transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center and later pronounced dead. The driver of the Chevy pickup truck, identified as Joe A. Holmes, age 57, of Willimantic, Connecticut, was uninjured. Mr. Holmes was taken into custody and later charged with 2^nd degree Vehicular Homicide, Driving While Under the Influence and Reckless Driving. Mr. Holmes is being held at the Somerset County Jail. Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics, Three Bridges Fire Department and Flemington Raritan First Aid also responded to the scene. The New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Unit was on scene and assisted in the investigation."

Prosecutor Kearns added, "Our condolences go out the Mr. Subana's family and friends during this difficult time. It is important, especially during the busy holiday season, to drive with extreme care and awareness and to be reminded of the life altering dangers of consuming alcohol or drugs, which adversely affects your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle."
