Large quantity of drugs seized on motor vehicle stop

On April 24th at approximately 11:55 PM, officers stopped a vehicle on US Hwy 22 near Potterstown Rd. While speaking with the driver, Ptl. Bodine detected an odor of marijuana. Sgt. Ferreiro and K-9 Polis arrived and the K-9 gave a positive alert for drugs and the vehicle was subsequently searched. Officers located 2 Kilograms of a whitish powder believed to be cocaine, marijuana and a stun gun, which is a prohibited weapon in New Jersey. Luis Lara-Garcia, 19, of Lexington, KY and Demarkus Nemetz, 19, of Georgetown, KY were both charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a stun gun. Luis Lara-Garcia was also charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses. Both suspects taken to the Hunterdon County Jail and later lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
