Counterfeit Money

On July 3, 2018 at approximately 2130 hours, the Readington Township Police were dispatched to the Walgreens on Route 22 for a report of a male later identified as Alwakeel H. Hill-Godwin (25) out of Newark, NJ attempting to purchase a Visa gift card with $500.00 of counterfeit money. An employee at Walgreens recognized the money was counterfeit and Hill-Godwin ran out of the store and left the area in an unknown direction. A description of the male was given and Tewksbury Twp. Police stopped a vehicle just prior to Rt. 78 that matched the description of the actor. The Readington Township Police followed up the motor vehicle stop and arrested Hill-Godwin. Hill-Godwin was charged with attempting to pass counterfeit money and tampering with evidence and lodged at the Hunterdon County Jail.
