TRAILER FIRE
On August 8, 2018, at approximately 10:35 pm, police and the fire department responded to the Park Place Trailer Park for a report of a fire inside a trailer with an unconscious male inside. Lt. Scott Crater from the police department was the first on scene and found the trailer with heavy smoke inside. Once inside he found the sole occupant, a 33 year old male, attempting to light a cigarette. The officer asked the man to come outside with him and the man refused. The officer attempted to escort the man outside for the man's own safety and to allow the fire department inside at which time the man began to fight with the officer. The man was handcuffed and brought out of his trailer by force. The man had symptoms of smoke inhalation and alcohol intoxication and was brought to the hospital for treatment.
A preliminary investigation revealed the man may have caught his pants and a towel on fire; the fire department extinguished a smoldering fire in the bedroom and venilated the trailer from the heavy smoke condition.
Criminal charges may be brought against the man at a later date.
