Gun and drug arrest

December 22, 2018 at 0034 hours: Sergeant Steven Rindock stopped a vehicle on Route 202 south for a moving violation. During the course of the stop, it was discovered that the driver, Sterling Morrison (21 years old from Monticello NY) was smoking marijuana while driving. A passenger of the vehicle, Terry Duncan (22 years old from Monticello NY) was found to be in possession of a loaded .45 caliber handgun. A search of the vehicle discovered additional drug paraphernalia and prescription medications. Morrison was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription legend drugs. Duncan was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of hollow point bullets. Both Duncan and Morrison were released on a summons complaint.

The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
