Patrolman Patrick Brown stopped a vehicle on Route 523 near Dreahook Road for multiple traffic offenses. Ptl. Brown made contact with the driver, Kevin Edmond (43) of Philadelphia PA, and detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Edmond refused to cooperate with Ptl. Browns instructions to exit the vehicle after being told numerous times to do so. Ptl. Brown broke the driver's side window, unlocked the door, and placed Edmond under arrest without further incident. A passenger in the vehicle, Ebony Mentore (23) of Brooklyn NY, cooperated with Officers and was found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. Edmond was found to be wanted from the Mount Laurel Municipal Court on an outstanding warrant. A search of the vehicle yielded additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Edmond was charged with obstruction, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and multiple traffic offenses. Mentore was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were released on a summons complaint. Edmond was released on his own recognizance from the Mount Laurel Municipal Court.
The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
