DUI / Possession of THC oil

March 3, 2019 at 0023 hours:

At the above date and time, Patrolman Jason Phares stopped a vehicle on US Highway 202 north near Pleasant Run Road for multiple moving violations. Ptl. Phares spoke with the driver, Ariel Medina (age 21 from South Plainfield NJ), and noticed indicators of impairment. Medina performed a series of sobriety tests which he ultimately failed. Medina was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. A search of Medina's vehicle located 15 vape pen cartridges containing high potency THC oil; the potency of the oil was in excess of 90%. In addition to the DUI, Medina was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane control, maintenance of lamps, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Medina was released from custody to a friend.

The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
