Drug arrest
On Sunday, March 10, 2019 at approximately 2307 hours, Ptl. Bodine stopped a vehicle on Rt. 22 east near Fire Lane for failure to maintain lane. The vehicle was operated by Holly Sandy and occupied by Kaitlyn Baker both from Elkins, WV. During the motor vehicle stop, the officer requested that Sgt. Ferreiro have his canine partner Polis conduct an open air sniff of the motor vehicle. Canine Polis gave a positive indication for the presence of illegal narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed under fifty grams of marijuana, Methamphetamine, numerous prescription pain killers and drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals were charged with possession of under fifty grams of Marijuana, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of prescription medication without a valid prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Holly Sandy was issued additional motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lane and operating a motor vehicle in possession of CDS. Both individuals were released from police custody pending a future court appearance. The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
