The Readington Township Police, along with the Whitehouse Rescue Squad and Hunterdon County Paramedics, responded to three separate overdoses involving opioids over the weekend.

On Saturday evening, March 9th, at about 9:20 pm, police were dispatched to the Whitehouse Motel for a report of a an adult male who had overdosed. At the same time other officers were dispatched to a home on Ridge road for a reported cardiac arrest. The officers who responded to the hotel administered Narcan to the unconscious victim; the officers also assisted in medical treatment of the victim who regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital for further treatment of a suspected heroin overdose.

The officers who responded to the home on Ridge Road found an adult female unconsciouss on the floor. Narcan was administered along with emergency medical care and the woman regained consciousness. The woman, who admitted she had ingested opioid pills before losing consciousness, refused further medical attention.

On Sunday afternoon, March 10th, at about 12:05 pm, officers were dispatched back to the same house on Ridge Road for a reported overdose. Upon arrival officers found an adult female, who was a family member of the victim who was treated the previous evening, unconscious. Narcan,along with emergency medical care, was administered to the victim who regained consciousness. She admitted to abusing opioid pills and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Narcan is a drug used for the emergency treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose; all Readington Township police officers are trained in its use and carry the drug with them while on duty.
