On Sunday, March 31, 2019 at approximately 1600 hours, Sfc. Heycock stopped Mark Zambito (21) out of High Bridge on Rt. Rt. 523 at Central Ave. for failure to wear his seatbelt properly. While speaking to the driver the officer observed a small piece of suspected marijuana. K9 Agar sniffed the exterior of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics. K9 Agar and Sfc. Heycock searched the interior of the vehicle and located under 50 grams of marijuana and several pieces of drug paraphernalia. Zambito was placed under arrest and charged with under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear seatbelt and possession of CDs in a motor vehicle. "The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
