At the above date and time, the Readington Township Police Department was dispatched to a residence on School Road for a burglary investigation. Patrolman Jason Phares responded and learned the victim reported a wedding dress had been stolen from the basement of the residence. During the course of the investigation, Valerie Hoadley (age 52 from Whitehouse Station) was developed as a suspect. Hoadley was arrested and charged with the following: burglary, theft, hindering apprehension, obstruction, and witness tampering. Hoadley was released on a summons complaint. The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
