Pursuit of stolen vehicles leads to arrest

At approximately 12:20 AM officers on routine patrol discovered three vehicles driving slowly on Dreahook Road. When the officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the three vehicles accelerated and attempted to flee. Sgt Rindock initiated a pursuit, having reason to believe he discovered a crime in progress. The pursuit ended on Stanton Road in Clinton Township when one of the vehicles crashed and the driver taken into custody. The other suspects fled the area.

A follow up investigation revealed that the suspects arrived in Readington in a vehicle that had been stolen out of Newark, NJ. They then took two vehicles from a residence on Dreahook Rd. One vehicle was taken from the driveway while the second vehicle was removed from the resident's garage. The suspects used the garage door opener from the unlocked car in the driveway to access the garage.

The suspect arrested is a 15 year-old male from Newark, NJ The juvenile was charged with: eluding, burglary, theft and receiving stolen property and turned over to the Hunterdon County Sheriffs Department for transport to a Juvenile Detention Center.
