On January 5, 2019 at approximately 0230 hours, Ptl Darocha was on patrol on route 202 South. Ptl Darocha observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Ptl Darocha conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt 202 and River Ave. While speaking with the driver Erik Guhlin of Budd Lake NJ, a strong odor of alcholic beverage was detected emanating from the vehicle and driver. The driver was given standard field sobriety tests which he failed. Guhlin was arrested for D.W.I. and transported to headquarters. Guhlin was charged with Driving while intoxicated, speeding, reckless driving, speeding, unsafe lane change, and refusal to submit to breath test. The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a couirt of law.
