On Saturday January 5, 2020 at approximately 2213 hours, Ptl Mazellan observed a vehicle in the left lane of 202 near Summer Rd obstructing traffic. Ptl Mazellan conducted a motor vehicle stop and the vehicle pulled over several minutes later. The driver Nelson Santiago of Edison NJ had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, and a strong odor of marijuana was also detected. Santiago failed the officers field sobriety tests. A search of Santiago's vehicle resulted in locating Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Santiago was arrested for Driving while intoxicated and possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle. "The filing of Criminal Charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
