On February 9, 2020 Jose Enrriques Vasquez, age 23, of Readington Township was arrested and charged with one count of first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one count of Lewdness, a fourth degree offense. The victim in this case was less than thirteen-years-old

An investigation was initiated by the Readington Township Police Department Patrol Division and followed up by Readington Township Police Department Detective Bureau and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office's Special Victims Unit.

An arrest was made on the same day the incident was reported. This is a validation of the teamwork which is often required when quick results are needed to ensure victims are safe. Mr. Vasquez was processed and lodged in the Warren County Jail to await a pretrial detention hearing.

The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
