On June 4, 2020 at approximately 1905 hours, Sfc. Heycock stopped Justin Hernandez (20) out of Perth Amboy for driving while suspended and failure to maintain lamps on Main St. in Whitehouse Station. While speaking to Hernandez Officer Heycock smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. Hernandez was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lamps. "The filing of criminal charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guility in a court of law."
